Can employers require employees to pay for their own home office equipment?

Usually, no. However, there are many factors which can change how you may want to proceed on this matter.
For example, are you an employee or an independent contractor? Are you taking any tax deductions? Did your employer require you to have a home office or did you set it up yourself?
For the most part, the employer does have to pay as well as provide a safe work environment at your house as well. If attempts to work with your Human Resources and Supervisor on this matter have failed, I suggest you contact legal counsel in your area.
