Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Pay for travel to training

I had to travel to Chicago for training. I left on Sunday, my normal day off. I returned home on friday. My Sunday travel took 9 hours and my Fri travel was 5 hours over my 8 hour work day. I claimed these on my time card but was told company policy only allows me to claim 4 hours of travel each way. Do they have to pay me for the entire time I was traveling to training and then home? My Friday travel and traing made it a 14 hour day.

Re: Pay for travel to training

If you are an hourly employee, you must be paid for all travel hours with the exception of normal commuting time. You are entitled to overtime pay if you work (or travel) and that results in more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week.
