Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Promised Stock in Startup Company

I work for a private startup tech company in silicon valley. When hired I was verbally promised 10% of the company if I worked for at least a year in my executive position. A year later they kept stalling me giving excuses. Now they are set to go public and I was wondering if I have any legal recourse.
