Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I was promoted to a supervisor position and a few months later received a demotion. I was told it was not for performance but instead because the position was temporary. I told a coworker I was not happy with the demotion but never said anything negative about management or the company. I then got pulled into an Associate Director's office for a meeting. She informed me that I should just "shut up" about the demotion. She told me that not only does she know but the other managers and the Director know as well. She told me I had "buried myself in a hole". She then said if another position opens that I would not be promoted. She then proceeded to tell me that management had a negative view of me. She told me not to expect to be promoted anytime soon because I showed I'm not a team player because I complained about the demotion.

In my view this took away my right to equal employment. If a position opened I wouldn't have a chance to get this position because management has already showed they are bias towards me.

Do I have a case?

"case" based upon "bias"?

Not unless you can clearly prove it is based upon the Civil Rights categories of race, age, sex, etc. none of which you mentioned. Plain old "Bias" is not illegal, nor is unfairness, office politics, personality problems, poor management skills, or any number of other reasons 'at will' employees like you get fired. Nobody said life or employment was fair.
