promotion denied unfairly
My boss recently hired someone to a manager position for which I was disqualified just a few months ago. The person was a contractor working with our group. She has substantially less experience for the job than myself, and is considered by all my co-workers to be less qualified. I had a MS degree and had been in the same industry for over 10 years.
There is no interview with anybody in the group for this candidate. There is no job posting for the hire. The offer was given the same day the job was created.
I filed a complaint, with serveral co-workers who felt the same unjustice, to HR. After a brief investigation, HR decided hiring process was voilated, but decided to take no corrective action. The boss's supervisor held a meeting with everyone in my group. He admitted problem in this hiring and promise to avoid the same mistake in the future. But he took no corrective action either.
I think I am being discriminated against. My co-workers agree and many of them had the same feeling that our manager practice nake favorism for the person hired in many other ocassions.
What should I do?

Unless you can prove 'discrimination' under the Civil Rights Act definitions, there is probably little practical recourse. If you are a member of a minority group, and can show you were discriminated against, then you may have a case.
