Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Racial discrimination in employment

If I was transferred to another area because I complained about a district manager making racial comments towards me what options do I have? In the company that I work for I have seen people terminated for the same type of behavior he demonstrated towards me. I also know that if I had done something like this I would have been terminated or demoted. I also know that it is only a matter of time before I will have to face this individual in a regional meeting and I am very uncomfortable. I have been suffering from emotional distress every since.

What they did is called retaliation. (Sorry for the delay. Your message just showed up on the board today.) Please e-mail to me your own e-mail address, and I'll send to you a questionnaire to get further details. Thanks.

See an attorney. You should not be retaliated against for exposing discrimination and if you move was in retaliation, a problem may exist. The culprit should have had action taken. Call to discuss.

You have several options, depending on how strongly you want to pursue. IF you have corroborrating facts and witnesses, you can file formal complaint with the company, all the way through filing suit. Contact me if interested in discussing what to do, this has been my area of specialty for many years.
