Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I was recently fired from my job. 2 years ago I was asked to interview with 2 branch offices of the same company. I turned down an offer from one branch president and accepted the position with the other. After 2 years my boss retired and the guy I turned down the job from 2 years earlier was to become our new branch president. At that point he refused to meet with me on matters he was meeting with the rest of my associates on and the I was fired without notice the day before the new boss and his staff moved into our office. They said offiially I was fired for lack of production, but my old boss even told me it was 100% the new boss' decision to let me go. My production #s were not so far off comparitvely and as I am a young trainee I was told all the time prior to the new boss coming in not to worry because the company needs young talent like myself. I feel I was discriminated against by the new boss coming in because I turned him down for a job 2 years ago. The company as a whole also put me in a precarious position having me
choose between 2 managers 2 years ago. Had I known the choice would have so greatly effected my career I would have manage my decision better. Was I discriminated against?

You're the victim of office politics and personality, neither of which makes the firing 'illegal'. Unless you have a written contract, you are an 'at will' employee that can be fired any time for any reason. Try to negotiate for a severance / separation payment.
