Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I was recently temporarily released from my contract position because the contract agency that I had signed up with had been overcharging the company was was contracted to on a long-term assignment. Consequently, when I was brought back to the company via another agency, I was placed on a 32-hour work week until the remainder of the year. This has caused a financial hardship. The company i am working for as a contractor is a well-established company and I don't want to leave it as the job is worth staying with. Question: Do I have any way to go after the contract agency that caused me to undergo both a time of no work (thus a loss of income), and financial hardship, as I will be losing one day's worth of income for the foreseeable future?

go after the contract agency...?

Not unless they violated the terms of a specific written employment contract. Otherwise you are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or terminated any time for any reason, with or without ‘cause’, explanation or notice.
