Legal Question in Employment Law in California

so i recieved a final notice from my employer without having prior ones due to not following protocall

am i suppose to recieve 2 prior before that i just dont feel like this is fair due to no other warnings were giving can someone help with this and what can i do

Is it unfair? Maybe. Is it illegal? No. There is no law that requires an employer to provide any number of warnings or progressive discipline, unless it is part of a union agreement. If you do not belong to a union or have a contract that limits the employer's ability to terminate you, you are regarded as an "at-will" employee. This means an employer can fire you any time it wants to, for any reason not prohibited by law. They do not even have to give you any warning.

Yes, this may sound unfair but this has always been the law and will continue to be until it is changed.
