Legal Question in Employment Law in California
retail chain doing "dark closings". Employee's are not told until the day of, out of the blue. No notice or warning signs. Is there a CA law to protect employees? BTW this is a large company 1500 stores, about 5-10 employee per store.

The employer can close without prior notice. But there may be other rights you can assert. If you wish to discuss this at no cost to you, please call me at 805-886-4515.

Probably the only 'right' you have concerns pay if you came to work and were told to go home that day. There are minimum payments due for that one day. You can file a claim with the Labor Commissioner for that.
