Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Retirement status revoked
Is there any law that prevents a company from revoking my retirement after the retirement has taken place? The original company was sold and the new owner has revoked my retirement status. That seems like rewriting history.

Re: Retirement status revoked
It depends what you mean by retirement. The Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) protects your right to retirement benefits under "plans" that are protected by that law. You might also have other state law contractual rights -- your question is not specific enough.

Not allowed! If accurate in your description, it is a violation that you could sue over. Feel free to contact me to discuss the facts and remedies.
