Legal Question in Employment Law in California

slander

I was fired from my job on December 5, 2003. I just received a letter from my former employee stating that I have been making false statements about his business. It is all hear say, but he is threatening to prosecute me for slander and malicious statements.

What should I do?

Thank you,

Re: slander

Respond in writing that you have not been doing as alleged, and that you will make sure not to do so in future. If he sues you, immediately hire a good attorney, who may be able to convince the company not to pursue the matter. It may make sense to hire an attorney now, if you really think he will sue. If he hasn't already sued, maybe he won't.
