Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Slander
My immediate supervisor basically told me ''I'm going to get you, you motherf**ker'' after I had a public disagreement with him. Since then I have been moved out of my office, he has gone to one of my clients suggesting that I am on drugs, tried to get me fired saying he never received my vacation request and expense report. I called my HR department, but they asked for proof. Short of a tape recording of the conversation I had with him, all I have is my word and a colleague who will back me up as she had experience the same situation though not as bad. What are my options short of quitting?

Re: Slander
Other than a claim of slander, if provable lies were made about drug use, you don't have anything other than an unpleasant situation that is probably best to quit.
Re: Slander
I can write a letter to HR on behalf of you..if that does not jeopardize your job. I also need to know your work history, details about your employer and salary.... before I can competenly advise.
Re: Slander
-If you can prove actual damages from the slander, you might have a viable case. Otherwise, if you quit, you'll be hard pressed to win a wrongful termination case. Further, if the EDD beleives you quit without good reason, you won't collect unemployment.
