Th statue of limitation
I am working for this California company for almost 20 years. This March, this company's HQ in Tokyo asked me to present last 5 years expense reports(Jan. 2003 to Dec. 2007) and then reviewed my reports thoroughly. Now HQ in Tokyo orders me to payback the most expenses they are not autholized. Total amount will be some $32,000.00. I was a VP of this company as of this end of March and I do expense report along with the company rules, which a former president created and he left in Feb. 2003. Also HQ in Tokyo asked me to pay cut by 10 % from this January due to no balance the bouget for last 2 years . So I need what to do with this matters legally.
Do I have to pay back or not?

They are way late in claiming expense reimbursement for past years, even if it was owed. Sounds more like they are trying to force you to quit. If you hire counsel to represent you in this, it may be possible to 'persuade' them not to pursue their demands. They could impose a NON-retroactive pay cut, unless you have a written contract of employment. However, if they take any of your paycheck without your consent, you would have a claim against them.
