Legal Question in Employment Law in California
getting stressed out
I am having a very ethical issue at work; my boss who owns the school is in a money crunch and is seeing fit to pay people who needs to be paid. Not only that, per my verbal agreement with her, she was to pay me on a weekly basis on the request of my pay. I got paid, but only got $200 out of $650. As for the teachers and other employees, she hasn't paid many of them for several months and if she has, it's only a miniscule amount. No one wants to go to the Labor Board & demand their pay since this decision will affect all the students who paid for their classes (i.e. school shutting down). She is facing an EDD audit this summer and is trying to find a way to hide this problem. What should I do? I'm getting stressed over this and I shouldn't since I recently found out I'm pregnant.
Please help?
Thank you

Re: getting stressed out
You can continue going along working without pay, or you can file a Labor Commissioner claim or a lawsuit, or you can sit and complain about it, or you can quit and get a job that pays. If the employer doesn't have the money to pay you, you're not going to get paid. The probably solution is litigation seeking payment through a judgment or settlement. If any of you get serious about trying to collect the money you are due, feel free to contact me for legal help in taking action that will be productive.
