Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I suspect that my employer changed information on my Evaluations, and personnel file and caused me to lose a prospective job, paying more money. I have a copy of the fraudulent information... what options do I have?

IF you can PROVE false statements about you were made by a prior employer, and that those false statements caused you financial damage in lost income, you have grounds for a lawsuit. Proving all that is normally difficult. You have to prove the statements FALSE, not just that you disagree with their opinion of you; prove the prospective employer received, understood and used them; prove that was the ONLY or MAIN reason you didn't get the job. That requires the testimony and cooperation of the prospective employer. Good luck getting that; they won't want to be involved. If you think you case obtain all that proof, feel free to contact me to discuss. Even if you can't prove the slander, if it really did happen, it may be possible to negotiate a settlement with the prior employer without having to file suit.
