If you are in a union, a grievance is your only remedy. Otherwise, In general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or terminated any time for any reason, with or without cause, explanation or notice. The 'race' issue would only be relevant if you can prove through credible and admissible evidence that the loan issue was a pretext, and that you were really fired "because of" your race. If you have any such proof, feel free to contact me to discuss.
