Legal Question in Employment Law in California
i was suspended from work, because someone filed a claim to my asst manager then went to hr. i am currently on suspension without pay. so they can investigate. i was never told for how long and there are 4 other people involved. hr keeps telling us to meet up with them, then tell us its gonna be another week. they haven't told us anything about the suspension how long or even if were gonna get fired. it seems like there waiting it out to wait for us to quit. can they do that? also i feel like they keep trying to find out more information on us to put on our record to try to fire us. what can i do because i feel like I'm being backed up into a wall and there just telling us what one person said against 4 other people saying different. also one of the people think the asst manager is out to get him because he knows all types of information to get her fired. so he thinks she's trying to get rid of him. please help

Not only are there no laws against poor management, 'unfair treatment', or rude, obnoxious or harassing behavior by management or other employees, but in general unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or terminated any time for any reason, with or without cause, explanation or notice. Beyond that, they claim to have 'cause'. You can ride out what might be an long indefinite suspension leading to a firing, or you can look for a new job.
