Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Termination for false reasons
I was recently working for a labor contractor (at-will), at a Fortune 100 automotive manufacturer. During the 13 months that I was there my work was highly valued. Last month I complained about a co-worker whom I discribed to the Project Manager as being verbally abusive, rude, and demeaning to me. She was not that way to anyone else. I found it difficult to work with her. The project manager and the clients management had us communicate by email. She would not often answer my questions even at this. A new project came on board. Told me he was aware of the situation and that I was a valued memeber of the team and wanted to make sure I was happy. He offered relocating my cubicle...I said ok but not to make it a priority even though every day working with this women was a living hell for me.
Last week the labor contractor told me that I was being terminated by the client. When I called the client directly she said that my attitude towards this co-worker was unprofessional and that my wanting to relocate my office was not acceptable and she was tired of hearing about all of this.
Do I have any recourse. My reputation within the client organization and the contractor has been ruined.

Re: Termination for false reasons
CA is an 'at will' state, you can be fired for any reason unless it is actually illegal or a breach of a written agreement of employment. Your reputation has not been any more ruined than anyone else fired from a job. You have little recourse.
