Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Termination w/o a reason
I was terminated from my employment. The reason given in the termination letter was ''unsatisfactory performance.'' When asked what that meant, I was provided no explanation. I asked to review any documents that pertained to the termination and was advised I could not review anything. I was employed by the company for ten months, and there is no probationary period. I rec'd no counseling; no discipline; no warnings; nothing. Within the past 30 days I was advised by my manager that I was doing a good job. What are my rights as they are with knowing the reason for being fired, and what legal courses of action may I consider?

Re: Termination w/o a reason
-An employee without a contract for a specific period of time can be terminated for no reason. However, "unsatisfactory performance" sometimes masks an improper termination. If you would like to talk to me further, please e-mail me or call me at 805/641-6600.

Unless you can show some illegal discrimination or retaliation, you have only an at will firing with essentially no value. If you can show illegality, then call to discuss. 7174-960-7584
