in general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or terminated any time for any reason, with or without �cause�, explanation or notice.
Even beyond that, you gave the employer 'cause' to terminate; you proved you were not interested in staying at the company and were planning to quit, by seeking other employment.
You probably still qualify for unemployment benefits though.
