Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I was told california can only go back 7 years on record check any criminal activity before that wont show. Is this true?

No.
Records are forever, and are maintained in the DOJ/FBI database as well as in the state databases.
For SOME purposes, a conviction may not 'count' against you after a certain time, but it is always on your record once entered. Sometimes employers will only ask about recent convictions, others want full disclosure.
