Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Treatment by Supervisor
Is it a problem if when at work, you ask something of a fellow employee and they say they are flustered. You then make a comment that ''This is a place of business.'' Is saying ''This is a place of business'' a statement that is an offense? This person went to the supervisor and complained. The supervisor put a letter in the file of the person who said ''This is a place of business'' and also, during the meeting with that employee, stated that he needed to put the letter in the file so the new Administrative Officer (who hasn't yet been hired) would know ''what kind of person she is.'' Does the employee have recourse through the courts?

Re: Treatment by Supervisor
I am not 100% clear on what happened in your situation, however, it does not sound positive. Unfortunately, it also does not sound illegal. I suggest you look to your employee handbook as to the proper procedure and speak to your employer's Human Resources.
I hope it turns out well for you.
