Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Unfair?

I've been with our company 2 1/2 year. May 2006 the CFO announced he was implementing company-wide standardized wage increases as of Jan 2007 for the previous year. I spent the whole year as Office Manager and Accounts Manager, support, then late in the year took on additional duties as a department head for a venture for the company has trying to get off the ground for years (before I began working there). There was no new formal job description or renegotiation. In December I was given notice that I wouldn't get an increase the department made back my salary, rent, insurance, etc. for the previous year. It is May 2007, and I still haven't gotten my review for 2006 (the rest of the company has).

Additionally, while researching my new department, I discovered that we were operating in California without a talent agency license. I advised management over and over to comply but was told that it was a ''gray area''. It is not. Additionally, I think the company has been categorizing employees as contract workers. I think this peeved them and they want to sweep it under the rug. Lots more, including shades of age-descrimination (I'm the only one over 40 in our office) but the above is most tangible. Thanks,

Re: Unfair?

Most of your complaint is about company discretion on duties and pay; however, IF you can show any support or evidence for your age claim, or 'whistle-blower' implication, then you may have a legal claim to make. It will have to be more than mere circumstantial speculation. Feel free to contact me to discuss the evidence you have, if serious about pursuing.
