Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I was unlawfully terminated for my position at a local retail store back in the summer of 2008. The reason for being terminated was due to leaving work early because I was very sick with the flu and having one poor sales day. My question is, which is probably is, is it too late to take this a step up as a case? And the steps needed to be taken at this point.

1. It wasn't 'unlawful' per your facts. You can claim it was 'unfair', but that is a different claim.
2. You probably have 2 years to bring legal action if you actually had a claim with merit and value. But, you haven't stated any facts that would indicate that. Unless you had a written employment contract, you were an 'at will' employee that can be fired any time for any reason. Keep your employer happy with you.
