Vacation Pay
I've been working for an automotive parts distributor for 11 years. When I first started working there, I had to wait a whole year before using any vacation time. So the policy was that whatevcr vacation we had earned for 93, was from working all of '92, and vacations I used '94 was earned for working all of '93, etc. In 2002, the policy was changed so that we had to earn our vacation throughout the same year. Which is fine, but my question was, what happened to my 80 hours earned for working all of 2001? They start alll over from scratch in 2002. I've been arguing with my bosses over this, They say they don't owe me anything, I say they owe me 80 hours. That was the vacation time I earned for working all of 2001. had they not started their new policy, I would have automatically had those two weeks n january of 2002. can they just start everyone from scratch without paying the two weeks already earned. I feel like I had to re earn them again throughout 2002.

Once vacation wages are earned, they cannot be taken away. You might direct your employer to consult with the Labor Commissioner to verify this to his satisfaction.

If you are due pay or time off, and the employer won't give it to you after you request it, you can file a claim with the Labor Commissioner. You can hire an attorney to help you with the hearings and trial on the matter. Contact me if interested.
