Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Can my wages be lowered for no reason?
I was making 20.00 dollars an hour, and one day, 4 hours before I started work, I received a notice from my boss that I would now be receiving 8.00 dollars an hour. Is this legal?

Re: Can my wages be lowered for no reason?
Legal? Sure. You are an 'at will' employee. Your right is to quit without notice and go elsewhere. If you had a union agreement or written employment contract, it could breach that agreement. You might arguably be entitled to unemployment benefits, under the circumstances of being 'forced' to quit.
