Legal Question in Employment Law in California
My wife's job has been terminated on summary dismissal for accidently deleting an Icon on her Computer Desktop. We have explained in detail to the company but they have not accepted and claim that she is responsible. We find the company decision is harsh, unfair and unreasonable. We would like to take court action. Your recommendation is appreciated. Many thanks. Regards, GT.

What is the rule your wife is claimed to have violated? What Icon did she delete? Is there any other history of discipline? [email protected]
In general, unless you are civil service, in a union or have a written employment contract, you are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or fired any time for any reason, other than illegal discrimination under the Civil Rights, or Whistle-blower, or similar statutes. Your goal should be to keep your employer happy with you.
