Legal Question in Employment Law in California

at will employee

Does the ''at will'' policy really stand up as to why employers can fire someone. E.G. if an employer does not feel the emplee does not perform well. Can they fire them without coaching them and use the ''at will'' cry as an excuse. Basically does an employee still have rights under an at will policy?

Re: at will employee

"At will" means exactly what it says. You can be fired any time for any reason, unless for actually illegal discrimination. Life is not fair, do the best you can at work and try to convince them you are valuable to them.
