Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I work for a Non Union Hospital as an LVN
6 in our team--4 Philippians and 2 Hispanic. I am being asked to work shifts that no one else wants. I am one of the 2 Hispanics the other is male and was recently hired - I have worked at the hospital for over 3 yrs. Just because he has another full time job, he is given priority in meeting his needs. I am a single parent and ask that I be given priority because of child care. Is this right for the scheduling person to do?

Unless you can PROVE discrimination as the motive for this, it is entirely up to the employer to schedule, etc, as long as they do so without violating one of their own formal policies..
