Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I've been working for my family business for about 8 months now, promised to see a pay raise in the near future. Yet I have been making $200 every 2 weeks maximum, just to find this weeks deposit to be even less then that a whopping $174.99 . Now I had never signed any contracts as it being a family business I never felt the need, though I do have my deposits and my clock in sheets. To be brief I have recently found out that my uncle the accountant is trying to stiff me. I am not necesarilly after the money but $175 simply does not pay my bills. Any advice would be much appreciated. On a side note I am located in lomita California where the minimum wage is $8.00 and this is by no means even close. Please advise. You may also reach me at my email at [email protected].
Thank you.
Best regards,
Christian

Negotiate a better pay rate, look for a new job, stay there without complaint, OR....
An hourly employee is entitled to be paid for all hours worked, at at least the minimum wage for your category. If you haven't been, you can file a claim for unpaid compensation with the Labor Commissioner.
