Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I was working for a towing company for 3 years getting commission pay and I recently found a better job where I work monday - friday and every now and then a sat. But I went to pick up my last check from my old employer and he informed me he was keeping my check because I owed him $1100 which I had no knowledge of. Can he legally hold my last paycheck?

No, and you can file a complaint with the Labor Commissioner which may entitle you to the pay, interest and penalties.
