Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I was written up at work and before i could grieve it i was called into wor the next day and terminted under there at will policy. I turned in all my uniforms nd equipment few daysater. Later that week I recieved a letter from one of the personnel employees telling me if i dont return my equipment they will put in m personnel file that i left on bad terms and they will use it when giving employee verificatons to other employers. I tried calling them to let them know i had ready turned in my stuff but they refused to talk to me and they didnt send me my last check until alost 3 weeks after my termination. What i do do with the letter? Is legal fo them o send letters to people like that?

"Grieve" implies you are in a union. If so, contact the union, as that is your only recourse. If not unionized, as your 'at will' reference indicates, then you have no 'grievance' rights, and need to resolve this with them if possible. You might consider hiring an attorney to help you. You can do anything you like with the letter, it means nothing. IF they give provably false statements to prospective employers or other third parties, you might then have grounds to sue for slander, if you can actually prove that.
