Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Wrongful Termination Racial Discrimination Sex harrassment

I worked as a contactor, through an agency, for over nine months. I complained to the agency rep about sexual comments that were demeaning and repetitive touching and kissing unsolicited from management members and the company where placed. The greatest insult was an onslaught of racial harassment from a secretary who is married to the companies vice president, which was so pervasive that it hindered my work. When her behavior escalated to her pushing I issued my ultimate complaint about the secretarys behavior they immediately put her on leave for two weeks and than proceeded with an investigation. The agency instructed me to speak only about the racial charges and not the sexual comments as they were looking for another assignment for me.

As the economy continued to take a down turn so did the prospects of them locating another employment opportunity. One day I was so stressed and frustrated I told the agency rep. that I wanted to see an attorney, the next day I was fired.

I desperately need to know my rights. The EEOC in San Diego has done their limited investigation and issued a right-to-sue letter at my request, but failed to get any other information from the both companies. Where do I go from here?

You hire an attorney experienced in discrimination cases to file suit; that is, if you have evidence such as witnesses to the facts alleged. You should immediately try to get people who worked there to give you written statements of what they saw and heard, to keep them from 'forgetting' things if the company pressures them. If you are interested in discussing suit, please call. 714-960-7584
