Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Yelling, threats and co-worker harassment
I work in a 7 person office in CA. Recently a co-worker had yet another outburst and has made working conditions near impossible.
All but the offender had offered to leave and we were told that the employee had given his 30 day notice. We had asked several times that he be talked to but we were told not to do so in the office as it would make things worse.
Now the employer is saying that this will blow over and we will all still be here in a month.
This employee has told my employers that I was not to use company sources as I would cause problems for him. My employers said they did not believe him yet they let him have his rantings and ravings. He has threatened us with law suits and is constantly bad mouthing everyone hi business cell ohone. The office is impossible to work in.

Re: Yelling, threats and co-worker harassment
Find a new job. Unless the 'ranting' constitutes actually illegal discriminatory conduct, it isn't illegal for the employer to ignore it. Nobody said life was fair. If you all threaten to quit, maybe the employer will do the right thing.
