Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Answering an unlawful detainer

The unlawful detainer I received contained two copies of page one (the summons), and no second page (the complaint) and no proof of service. How do I respond?

Re: Answering an unlawful detainer

Well, techically, you were served with the Summons. The Summons is the document that give the court jurisdiction over you. You can always file a motion to quash for failure to properly serve. Or, you can answer the UD and defend it on other grounds. Remember, you have five (5) days to respond. Please consult a local attorney to assist you. Good luck and thanks for inquiring.
