Breaking a lease?

I was told that you can break a lease without paying in California as long as you are buying a house. Is this true and if so where do I find info to give the my apartment complex. thanks for your help

Not true. The contract between you and your landlord is not subject to cancellation or termination merely because you have purchased a house.

The information that you were "told" is incorrect. Purchasing a home is not a legally sufficient reason to get out of your lease agreement.

Someone has misinformed you. You may not break a lease just because you are purchasing a home. However, you may negotiate terms to break the lease with the landlord. Make sure you get it in writing.
