Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
Brother and kids moving in
My brother and his 3 minor children
have moved into our house in
southern California until he gets his
own place with the agreement that I
will care for his children while he
works. His marriage is rocky and his
wife will be finishing school in
Minnesota for the next 4 years. How
can I protect my family and home in
the event of any potential injury
and/or whatever else may come up?
Will a written agreement, written my
my husband and myself, and signed
by my brother and his wife hold up?

You need to be careful. However, even with the written agreement, which, by the way, is always a good idea, you would not be able to protect yourself a 100%. Make sure you carry a homeowner's insurance, which I am sure you do and put the Agreement for services in writing, signed by both your brother and his wife. If you need help in drafting an agreement, I would recommend, you contact an attorney. Good luck!
