Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Hot Water Problems

We are renting an apartment in L.A city and we have been having problems with our hot water in our sink. We notify the manager, but she told us that we needed to adjust the dial in the buildings boiler or some other device. I have no idea where the dial is or how to adjust it. Is is management's responsibility to show us how to adjust this dial or are they suppose to do it. By the way, we pay the hot water bill.

Re: Hot Water Problems

It depends on the nature of the building in which you live. If it's more than a shared house, the management should be adjusting it -- and not you! Optimal temperature might be in the 120-130 range. Anything higher would scald. You might want to call the gas company to get further guidance.
