Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

L.A. Rent Controlled Tenant harrassed -PART 2
Please read previous post with similar title 1st. This post gives more details to that case.
Dec/05-Prior to leaving for holidays I drop off Jan rent in onsite dropbox as usual. I return 1/2/06 & discover notice sent over Xmas informing of new LL and new instructions to now mail Jan rent to new mgmt(note this is short notice & not the 30 days required). I call new mgmt to inform them of situation & ask if they'd received my check, or needed new one, etc (also asked for maintenance). Calls never returned. Days later receive Pay/Quit notice. Again call repeatedly but no return. Once I finally get real person they say it was error & not to worry (notice rescinded). Kept calling for maintenance but never any response. Mailed Feb rent as directed. Week later came home to find unlawful detainer summons on door. Called. They tried to deny I ever contacted them, paid, etc (long distance bill proves otherwise) When I pointed out I'd kept records their tone changed. Tried to convince me not to file answer to UD summons but just send new check & they'd drop suit. I mailed a new check as asked but still filed answer at court. Good thing. They sent all checks back saying they're persuing eviction. So much more but I'm out of space. Help!

Sounds like your LL is trying to get you out under circumstances that may amount to bad faith. You should get yourself a lawyer. Good luck.
