Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
Landlord name search assistance....
Hello, please tell me how I can search for a landlords name if I only have the address and they were being secretive on not supplying me with rental receipts, and now I want to contact them for my move out refund of $600. I'm on SSDI (Disablilty long-term) and I need that for food and expenses. I had to move per Doctor's orders and to break my lease due to mold issues in the cottage.
Thanks, Sandi

Re: Landlord name search assistance....
Hi Sandi:
The owners of property can be found at your local Hall or Records, however, you may have more problems than that.
Doctor's orders are not a reason to break a lease, nor is mold per se. I hope you did it the right way.
Chances are you are not entitled to your $600 back.
As tight as money might be, you still might have to hire an attorney to represent you, or get help from your local Legal Aid society.
Unfortunately, your lease is (was) a contract, and the wise, old lawmakers have never put a doctor's order down as a reason for breaking a contract.
