Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

landlord-tenant

I need help with an appeal. my landlord has takien retalitory actions against me by serving me with an illegal 3day notice and a UD. I have 90 days to appeal a decision from the Oakland Rent Board based on procedure and not merritt. The landlord has taken this as being a reason to illegally raise my rent over the allowed percent of 3.3%. I have a court date for the UD, but I need to explain that the increase of rent is based on confusion and nothing factual. CAn anyone Help!

Re: landlord-tenant

You need to contact an attorney who is familiar with the Oakland Rent Control Board Rules & Regulations. I'm sorry, I am @ 500 miles south of Oakland! Contact your local bar association for an attorney who can help you. Make sure your attorney understands the Rent Control Board rules, not just UD stuff.

You might want to call George Shers (Union City) who is also a member of this panel.

Good luck!
