Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Can I sue my ex boyfriend for selling an antique he willingly stored for me?

I lived in California at this time (still do) and moved out of my ex boyfriend's in 2007 because we broke up. He said he would store a priceless heirloom for me-no date to retrieve it. I recently got hold of him on Facebook asking about getting it back. He said he got rid of it a while back. Can I sue him for this? It was an antique secretary, quite large and worth thousands of dollars. He had my phone number, knew how to reach me in many ways but did not.

Yes, you have described a classic case of tort of conversion. If it was worth less than $10,000 you can sue him in Small Claims Court.
