Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California
received money
I received a check for $10,000 that said it was an adjusted amount from a previous case. 35 days later I get a phone call from the firm that paid out the money, they said it was a mistake on their part because I had previously settled.
They are demanding the moneys back, but I no longer have it available.
Am I obligated to pay them back for their mistake?

If you now believe it was, indeed, an overpayment, then make arrangements to pay it back over time.
