Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California
I was asked to help find an attorney for my friend, who was butchered and left with horrific scars after a gall bladder operation went awry. Doctor surgically nicked other organs, resulting in a 30 day transfer to UC Irvine to extract infections. It left 3 children to fend for themselves, while eviction notices were being posted. They also temporarily lost Welfare benefits, and had to re-apply, putting a terrible strain on the family. She does not have access to the Internet, and asked me to be her proxy. Can you help?

Your description sounds terrible, and if she can back that up with the opinion and testimony of another doctor in that field that it was 'malpractice', she probably has a great case. She first needs to ask her subsequent treating doctors if they agree. They treated her, so I would expect them to tell her the truth. Without doctor/expert testimony there is no case, as my opinion and hers are not 'proof'. I'll be happy to help her, direct her how to discuss the situation with her doctors, and file suit if supported by the doctors' opinions.
