Should plaintiff pay defense fees award in CA if plaintiff is decided to abandon the case due to worsen emotional health ?

"Should" is not the proper question. If you unilaterally abandon the case [the reason doesn't matter] and the defendants file a motion, you might end up with a judgment against you for those costs. You could try to negotiate a mutual release with them to avoid that. That is what your attorney is there for.
