Legal Question in Military Law in California

concerned wife

hello i am a marine wife. we just recently had our first child in jan. and i just learned that my husband will be deploying in april. i never wanted to be in the military and am really considering alternatives already. what i was wanting to know is if my husband can do anything to get out of the marine corp? he says that he doesnt like it and that it just takes to much away. most of the time he is depressed. please help us and give us some kind of answer. i dont want him going over there being depressed. it will just make things worse.

It's not that easy to get out of the military, especially after you have received orders to go to a combat zone. He should try to see someone in the navy's medical system to deal with his depression. Based on the evaluation, he either can get help or receive a medical discharge, however the chance of a discharge is very small.

This is a fact of life about being in the military especially during a time of conflict.

There were many soldiers during my time in Vietnam who had similar situations; we just had to deal with it.

I am sorry that I cannot be positive. However, this gives a realistic evaluation of the situation.
