One year for false imprisonment, two years for battery.

If against a government agency, police, etc., then you have 6 months to file a personal injury claim and follow it up with a lawsuit within a year of denial of claim [denial is almost always the outcome].
If against a private person, then you have 2 years for personal injury claims to bring a lawsuit.
