Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
Libel
Can the Department of Defense make available derogatory information about an individual based on a allegation? You simply type my name in a web search and find that the Department of Defense questions my character. It has resulted in job loss and I believe violates my civil rights.

Re: Libel
If the information posted by DOD is untrue and defamatory, then you may have a cause of action for negligence. However, you may also bring an action for injunctive relief to prevent ongoing harm. Let me know if I can be of service.

?
Point: truth is normally not actionable, false statments are as slander; truth can be 'derogatory'.
Point: proof that DOD, or someone, did it knowingly would be required.
Point: How is this information so generally available that a web search brings it up?
