Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I was living at my Parents house and had all my belongings in the garage. I was also the only sibling taking care of my Parents (I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters) And NOBODY even called let alone come bye and visit for over 3 years. Then when my Dad died-- my sister took power of attorney over my Moms estate. (She was only ill for about 4 weeks and I believe my Sister took advantage of the situation) I had told my sibilings time and time again that the water heater was not working right and that it wasn't suppose to be in the Garage(It had been there for over 30 years) But nobody would help me do anything about it. I didn't have the resources to change it. The garage caught fire and burned up everything i owned. The fire departments report stated that the fire was caused by the water heater and that no foul play was involved at all. (I lost everything including my children's baby books and all my jewelry,cloths,makeup-refridg. stove computer and ect... My Parents owned the house and had lived there for 50 years. My sister told me that the insurances co. was waiting for the fire department report to act upon claim. Then later she told me that my Parents didn't have fire insurance for which I know had to be a lie. How can I find out if for sure if they had fire insurance or not--isnt it a matter of public record?

Whether or not fire insurance was current and in force on the house is not a matter of public record, though certain things may become publicly available through the probate court processes at a later time. Your question raises several important and complicated issues touching in several different legal areas. I don't believe it will be helpful to you to try and obtain partial quick answers to these questions in a forum of this nature. You need to spend some time with an attorney very soon as you have rights which may be able to be pursued on your behalf, but the passage of time is not going to be helpful for the potential of success for those efforts.
